Chemabrasion
Back
Chemabrasion,
otherwise known as a Chemical Peel, is a treatment involving the
application of an acid to improve the appearance of sun-damaged,
prematurely aged or finely wrinkled facial skin. Peels remove
the outer layer of skin allowing the collagen and dermis layers
to rejuvenate. Both the type and concentration of acid can be
carefully selected to achieve the quality and depth of effect
desired.
Process:
For mild degrees of skin damage, topical solutions of Vitamin
C has been shown to protect skin against "free radical damage"
with antioxidant properties. Vitamin A derivatives (Retin-A, Renova,
Retinol) can lessen fine wrinkles by stimulating cellular growth
and replacing superficial skin layers. Chemical peels in the form
of organic acids improve skin texture and tone by exfoliating
the skin and "straightening out" the collagen that has become
irregular with aging and damage. We offer a variety of Chemical
Peels, including OBAGI Blue Peel, Refinity Non-Stinging Peel,
Accupeel, Beta Peel and Glycolic Peels.
Recovery:
Chemical peels are applied by our licensed aestheticians under
physician supervision, and followed with a prescribed home regimen.
Healing and elimination of any redness or irritation depend on
the specific procedure.
Results:
Patients report a much healthier skin tone, with a smooth and
supple feel.
